Taylor Swift wears many hats. Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter. Director. Doctor. Iconic cat lady. But wait there’s more! Yes, the multi-hyphenate possesses another impressive skill — actress.

Taylor once appeared in a 2009 episode of CSI, but she clinched her first film role in the 2010 rom-com, Valentine’s Day. She then went on to voice Audrey in 2012’s The Lorax. In 2014, she appeared as Rosemary in The Giver and in 2019, she starred as Bombalurina in the film remake of Cats. Now, she’s set to star in Amsterdam, a period piece from director David O. Russell, the filmmaker behind projects such as American Hustle and The Silver Linings Playbook.

So, when can we expect to see Taylor on the silver screen again? Have any teasers or trailers dropped? Ahead, find out everything you need to know about Taylor Swift’s new film, Amsterdam.

What is Amsterdam about?

The period piece chronicles three friends, two soldiers and one nurse — portrayed by Christian Bale, John David Washington, and Margot Robbie, respectively — who are accused of killing someone. The film’s IMDb page also offers a brief synopsis.

Set in the '30s, it follows three friends who witness a murder, become suspects themselves, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history.

Is there a trailer?

Yes! 20th Century Studios dropped the first trailer on July 6, and OMG it looks so good. Unfortunately, we don't see too much of Taylor in the two-and-a-half minute clip, aside from a brief appearance in the billing block towards the end. In the shot, she sighs and has a forlorn look on her face. She wears her hair in a '30s-style updo, accessorized with a small fascinator and dangly emerald earrings.

The trailer opens with Christian Bale, John David Washington, and Margot Robbie's characters in a room, as Chris Rock's character walks in, exasperated and confused as to why they're standing over "a dead white man in a box." The following scenes depict how the three friends met, why they look guilty of murdering someone, and how they try to unveil the true killer.

The first sneak peek at the project was revealed to attendees at the 2022 CinemaCon, and per Variety, the film was labeled an “original romantic crime epic” by Disney executive Tony Chambers.

When is Amsterdam’s release date?

Amsterdam is slated to hit theaters on November 4, 2022.

Who else stars in Amsterdam?

This film boasts a seriously star-studded cast. Aside from Taylor, Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margot Robbie (who also stars in the upcoming Barbie film), and Chris Rock, Zoe Saldaña, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert De Niro, Rami Malek, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Alessandro Nivola, and Andrea Riseborough.
