Taylor Swift: bestselling music artist, pop songwriter and … future Food Network star?

Swift turns 30 this year, and she’s lived and learned a lot since she first stepped onto the scene as a curly-haired country crooner. The “Reputation” singer penned an open letter for Elle‘s April issue reflecting on 30 of those lessons, because “sharing is caring.”

The interesting tidbit that grabbed our attention was discovering that Swift is quite a cook. While she admits that she’ll likely stick to making the same three dinner recipes for life, they aren’t exactly simple. Among them are Ina Garten’s Real Meatballs and Spaghetti (“I just use packaged bread crumbs and only ground beef for meat”), Nigella Lawson’s Mughlai Chicken and Jamie Oliver’s Chicken Fajitas With Molé Sauce.

However, we know Swift means serious business in the kitchen because she’s invested in a pretty practical kitchen gadget. “Getting a garlic crusher is a whole game changer,” she wrote.

Garlic can really set off a dish, sending your tastebuds into a state of euphoria with each bite. But peeling, mincing or crushing those tiny bulbs of flavor isn’t as thrilling. That’s where a garlic crusher, aka garlic press, comes in handy.

Ready to save prep time, minimize mess and chop garlic like a pro? Below are top-rated garlic presses for as low as $12.

I am an avid cook and really appreciate good-quality kitchen tools that make cooking easy,” one reviewer wrote.

I cook a lot and now there are no little nicks and cuts on my hands from trying to finely chop my garlic. I also used it for pickles when I made potato salad. “My favorite part is because of being made of stainless steel, it will not retain any of the garlic odor. I love me some garlic but not a lingering garlic smell. It is very easy to use and easy to clean,” according to one review.

One reviewer wrote: “For years I used el cheapo garlic press, which pressed terribly + made my hands ache. It was some cruddy material, not stainless and I seriously don’t even remember where I got it from. I think I threw it away. Utterly useless. I just got this OXO Soft Handled Garlic Press + now I am just looking for reasons to press garlic! I love the quality + construction of this garlic press; it is a pleasure to use. Cleanup is a breeze. What an easy way to get a lot of garlic into one’s diet!”
