Taylor Swift Swapped Her Red Lip for a Rare Bold Eyeshadow Look

Fit for her 34th birthday.

We all know that Taylor Swift loves a bold red lip—in fact, she practically never leaves the house without one. However, when it comes to the rest of her makeup, she tends to keep it simple. Of course, there are exceptions, like the time she wore a full crystal cat eye, or when Pat McGrath gave her a shimmering “bejeweled” makeup look. On her latest outing in New York City, Swift traded her signature red lip for one of her boldest eye looks yet.

On December 12, Swift must have been celebrating her 34th birthday early, as she was spotted in Soho with Selena Gomez in a shimmering gold eye look.

Even for a night out look, the eyeshadow was much brighter than we're used to seeing on the star. Her eyelids were coated in an ultra-shimmery gold shade—not so much chrome and definitely not rose gold; the shadow was a classic yellow-gold shade with what looks like green-toned glitter. A little bronze shadow on her lash line and blended around the gold shade added even more depth and dimension to the sparkly look.

Swift’s golden eyes were completed with the tiniest cat eye that just barely extended off her lid. Her upper and lower waterlines were both darkened with black eyeliner, and her eyelashes were coated in dark mascara.

As if all the gold on her eyes wasn’t enough, she also rang in her birthday with a new lip color, switching from her classic crimson. A very similar shade to the light blush on her cheeks, her lips were coated in a peachy coral shade with a matte finish. The orange-toned pink paired perfectly with her bronzy gold eyes.

Of course, with all the shimmer on her face, she had to bring some bling to her outfit. On top of a tan leather trench coat and black T-shirt, Swift wore layers of gold necklaces, including a chunky choker. Her ears were decked out with a handful of gold earrings, most notably a star-shaped charm on both ears.

Her hair was the final piece of the puzzle. Pulled back into a bun, she let her bangs and some face-framing tendrils hang loose.
