The NFL player was asked about his rumored relationship with the singer during an appearance on NFL+ with host Andrew Siciliano after reports that he once tried to give the “Lavender Haze” singer his phone number earlier this year at one of her concerts. “The only thing anyone really wants to talk about is Taylor Swift,” Siciliano said in the interview, a clip from which has since been reshared on TikTok. “Did you really have your phone number ready on a friendship bracelet to give to Taylor?”

Kelce seemingly confirmed that the reports about trying to give his number to Taylor were true. “I said what I said. And I meant what I said when I said it. And you know what, it is what it is,” he said, before playing it coy about their relationship status. “I’m not gonna talk about my personal life,” he added.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end went on to playfully tease listeners. “I know what you writers wanna hear, and you wanna hear more about that and I’m not gonna give you anything,” he joked while pointing a finger at the camera. Siciliano pressed him for more, however. “Has she reached out?” he asked, to which Travis remained tight-lipped. “And that’s gonna wrap it up here,” he said, ending the interview.

Fans are speculating if Taylor Swift responded to the Travis Kelce dating rumors by wearing an opal necklace on an outing in New York (see the photos here). It sounds benign, but Swifties were, ahem, swift, to point out that opal is the October birthstone and Kelce’s birthday is October 5.
“Kelce is a libra and opal is our birthstone,” one eagle-eyed Swiftie commented on @taylorswiftstyled’s Instagram post spotlighting the star’s jewelry; “I’ve put my [clown emoji] makeup on and I’m listening,” another joked in response. “even though i believe the kelce’s [sic] started the dating rumor to promote their documentary… opal is october birthstone and travis was born in october,” another pointed out.
The tear-drop-shaped pendant is part of a necklace Foundrae’s Forever & Always a Pair Pendant ($1,150), described by the website as representing love. “Each pair comes at a time in our lives when something just feels right. These pairs of pears, we absorb them, fuse them into our own hearts, and our heart grows as a result. It’s those pairs we choose to keep; friends, lovers, family, chosen family, a part of our heart forever. Forever and always, perpetually, and unceasingly bound.”
The rumors of Kelce and Swift seemed to solidify when The Messenger reported that “Taylor and Travis have been quietly hanging out,” according to a source who spoke to the outlet. “She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago,” the insider said.
According to sources who spoke to ET, however, the pair aren’t actually an item—but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any feelings involved. A source told ET, “Travis has been into Taylor for a while and definitely has a crush on her. He is a simple guy that is very funny, charismatic, chill, and loves playing football.”
On Sunday, September 17, 2023, NFL announcers were having a field day with the jokes and it sounds like he’s taking it all in stride. When Kelce scored a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars, commentator Ian Eagle quipped, “Kelce finds a blank space for the score,” making reference to Swift’s song “Blank Space” from her 1989 album, adding later that the champion tight end could “shake it off” after suffering a knee injury in practice a few weeks prior, another reference to a T-Swift song, “Shake It Off”.
NFL Network’s Rich Eisen chimed in with the banter on Twitter with a rollcall of Swift hits while covering Kelce’s return to the field, including “Delicate,” “Anti-Hero” and “August.” Sharing a clip of the broadcast via Instagram, Eisen wrote in the caption, “Look what you made me do, @killatrav.” Kelce responded: “Well played Rich… Well played 👏🏻😂”
Two months prior, Kelce seemingly opened up about his crush on the singer during an episode of the podcast “New Heights,” in which he revealed that he tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it before one of her concerts for her Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings, so I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he admitted at the time.
The football player’s brother, Jason Kelce, had a funny theory as to why Taylor didn’t end up meeting them that night: “She probably just hasn’t gotten over the Super Bowl yet,” Jason joked. “She’s a big Eagles fan, so maybe she just made something up and didn’t want to talk to you,” to which Travis quipped, “Dammit!”
