Taylor Swift Released Diary Excerpts About Boyfriend Joe Alwyn

Taylor Swift's long-running relationship with Joe Alwyn is perhaps the one she has kept the most private. But with the release of her seventh album, Lover, we're starting to learn more about the couple, who have been dating for about three years.

Fans who purchased the deluxe version of Lover received a booklet that contained pages from Taylor's personal diaries over the years, dating all the way back to when she was just 13. In an entry from January 2017, she talks about her fledgling relationship with Joe without mentioning him by name.

“I’m essentially based in London, hiding out trying to protect us from the nasty world that just wants to ruin things,” she wrote, per People. “We have been together and no one has found out for 3 months now. I want it to stay that way because I don’t want anything about this to change or become too complicated or intruded upon.”

“But it’s senseless to worry about someday not being happy when I am happy now,” she continued. “OK. Breathe.”

As one of the most famous singers on the planet, Taylor's life and relationships are often targets of the tabloid press and paparazzi, so it's natural to assume that that could take a huge toll on a new relationship. She even references that "fishbowl" in the video for the title track from Lover, released just ahead of the album.

"The fishbowl scene is so important," a fan wrote on Tumblr about the scene in the video where Swift's "lover" literally climbs into a fishbowl with her . "Meaning everyone can watch how she's living her life and judge based on it. And then her lover dives right into the fishbowl (or that lifestyle) without looking back to be with her."

The singer responded, "THAT WAS THE POINT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GETTING IT."

The diary entry just further proves the point that this is a major topic for Taylor; happily it seems like things are going well with Joe, but as always, it's important to remember that everyone — including major celebs like Tay — are deserving of privacy.
