Taylor Swift Made Jessica Chastain a "Breakup Playlist" After They First Met in 2011

The queen of breakup songs curating a list of breakup songs? Iconic.

Jessica Chastain is revealing the sweet way Taylor Swift helped her through a breakup.During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress recalled how the pop star made her personalized breakup playlist after they first met at the Met Gala in 2011.

I mean, who better to curate a list of breakup of songs than the woman who created a billion-dollar empire from writing breakup songs?

“It was like the first year I was invited to the Met Ball, first year I had movies out, and we were both sitting next to each other," Chastain told Fallon. “And she [Swift] was so sweet. I just went through a breakup and I was talking to her about that. And, you know, we went and danced together. It was such a fun night.”

The next day, Chastain said she had an e-mail from iTunes "that said, like Taylor Swift, whatever," thinking it was just a promotional message for her new album. But after opening the note, she quickly realized Taylor herself had made her "a breakup playlist."

"Isn’t that the sweetest thing?" Jessica said, adding: "And here I thought it was like a Taylor Swift advertisement. And I was like, wait a minute? She curated all these breakup songs to send me to help me get through my breakup.”

It's unclear who Jessica's 2011 split was with, but the following year, she met her future husband, fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo. The two were married in 2017 and share two children together — a son, Augustus, and a daughter, Giulietta. 

Since their first meeting more than a decade ago, Swift and Chastain still keep in touch. In fact, just this past summer, the Molly's Game star supported the singer while attending one of her Eras Tour concerts. “I was in Mexico City and she was touring there and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to Taylor’s concert,’" Chastain explained as Fallon held up a photo of her and Swift posing together backstage after the show.
