Taylor Swift Loved Niall Horan and Fletcher’s “Lover” Cover
Taylor Swift has officially put her stamp of approval on Niall Horan and Fletcher's catchy cover of her song "Lover."
Tay showed her love for the single on her Instagram Story earlier this week. Posting a screenshot of the song playing on her Spotify account, she put a very sweet caption on the photo: "This is absolutely stunning. @niallhoran [and] @findingxfletcher, love you guys." Niall and Fletcher's cover of "Lover" was teased earlier this week is a tweet from the former One Direction band member.
"Great day recording a live version of no judgement and a cover of Lover by the lovely @taylorswift13 for @Spotify singles sessions," Niall wrote alongside of video showing him hopping in the studio to sing "No Judgment." Fletcher then retweeted Niall's announcement, adding, "Got to reimagine @taylorswift13’s perfect pop song Lover with the lovely @NiallOfficial." The pair's cover of "Lover," a Spotify Singles track released on March 4, keeps some of the classic Taylor elements of the song, like the acoustic guitar, while delivering some new depths thanks to Niall and Fletcher's duet work.
Niall is on record as having been a fan of the song "Lover" since the album was released back in 2019. Thanks to a fan preserving some choice screenshots from Niall's Instagram Story back in August 2019, we can see the singer/songwriter was giving the song some very high praise. Posting a shot of the song playing on his Spotify, Niall wrote about "Lover": "This song is a classic and it's so important for music." In a follow-up slide, he explained, "Having classic songs around like 'Lover' is sooooo important. These songs will stand the test of time." Taylor thanked Niall for his sweet comments back then, too, making it clear the appreciation and love these two artists have for one another is as long-lasting as "Lover."
