Taylor Swift Honors Manchester Bombing Victims During "Reputation" Tour

"You’ve shown that you have such incredible resilience to keep dancing."

Taylor Swift has been traveling the globe on her Reputation world tour, making memorable stops with special guests including Shawn Mendes and Selena Gomez. After numerous performances in the United States, Taylor's tour debuted in Manchester last night (June 8), and she used the concert to share a message with fans regarding the tragic bombing that occurred in their city last year.

The statement comes nearly one year after an explosion occurred at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on May 22, 2017. According to People, Taylor took a moment to recognize the city's continued healing following the event. “You’ve shown that you’re never gonna let anyone forget about those victims. And you’ve shown that you have such incredible resilience to keep dancing and to keep the innocence and to keep the joy and to keep the joy," she told the crowd.

She continued, sharing how pleased she was to be there, saying, "I just want to say, Manchester: It is such an honor to play for you tonight." After addressing the crowd, Taylor then performed an acoustic rendition of "Dancing With Our Hands Tied," People reports.

Clips of her tribute have been shared to social media, and many followers have praised the singer for her comments. "Taylor dedicated 'Dancing With Our Hands Tied' to the Manchester attack and now the meaning has completely changed when you listen to the lyrics," one person tweeted. Some followers were also apparently touched by the tribute, writing, "Taylor just did a speech about the Manchester attack and I can’t stop crying" and "You made me well up with your perfect words about the resilience Manchester has shown since the attack last year."
