Stevie Nicks has a special shoutout for Taylor Swift, who she says has helped her through a devastating time in her life.

The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman was onstage at a recent concert, where she opened up about the death of her beloved friend and bandmate, Christine McVie, who died at age 79 in November 2022.

That's when Nicks, 74, took a moment to thank Swift, 33, for one of the most emotional tracks off the pop star's latest album, a song that she believes embodies her grief over McVie's death.

"Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing a favor for me," the singer was heard saying in a TikTok video from her recent concert. "And that is, writing a song called, 'You're on Your Own, Kid.'"

As the crowd erupted in cheers over the poignant Swift track, Nicks went on to say, "That is the sadness of how I feel."

"You're on Your Own, Kid," is one of the most intimate songs from Swift's latest album, Midnights, as it highlights her painstaking journey to fame, life in the spotlight, navigating relationships and more of her heartbreaking personal experiences. The song is also the fifth track on the album, a spot Swift is known to reserve for her most emotional song.

During her performance, Nicks explained that she now relates to the loneliness Swift sings about since losing her friend, stating, "The two of us were on our own, kids," referring to their 47 years of friendship.

"We always were. And now, I’m having to learn to be on my own, kid, by myself," she added, shouting out Swift. "You helped me to do that. Thank you."

McVie, who was the longtime keyboardist for Fleetwood Mac, died on Nov. 30 last year, after suffering what her family first described as a "short illness."

Last month, her death certificate documented the official cause of death as an "ischaemic stroke," Parade previously reported.
