We have a mystery on our hands, folks. It is the case of “What Is That on Travis Kelce's Neck and Did Taylor Swift Leave It There?” Did fans correctly spot a hickey on the neck of Swift's favorite tight end? Or did Kelce simply receive some sort of football injury unrelated to smooching? Let's investigate.

In screenshots from Kelce's December 17th game, the Kansas City Chiefs player appears to have a small, reddish-purple bruise on the side of his neck that looks an awful lot like a love-bite. Fans immediately zoomed in on the pic and took to their favorite social media platforms. “A mark on Travis’ neck,” wrote one Twitter-user. Meanwhile, a Chiefs fan jokingly suggested on Twitter that Kelce had a neck injury thanks to the “Karma” singer.

It doesn't look like Kelce has commented on the alleged hickey on his own New Heights podcast, but another sports podcaster, Pat McAfee, added his two-cents. “It did look like he had a hickey right there on his neck,” McAfee said in a TikTok clip from his show. “That made me think him and Taylor are just having fun… sucking necks.”

For the journalism, I decided to do some of my own investigating. Looking at pictures of Kelce taken before the game, I can't see any bruise mark on his neck.

The hickey-like mark doesn't seem to appear until we start looking at pictures taken during the game.

This would indicate, to me, that we are probably looking at a minor bump or scratch sustained during some heavy footballing and not that Taylor Swift gave Travis Kelce a good luck hickey before the game. “Those types of marks are very common among football players because of the shoulder pads rubbing,” one football fan commented on McAfree's TikTok video.

That, or his color corrector wore off. You never know!
