Taylor Swift hasn't said anything explicitly about her Joe Alwyn breakup in public. But to some fans, Swift's face sent a clear message during her New Jersey Met Life stadium Eras tour concert over the weekend. A fan posted a video of her singing “The Archer” and making a dramatic grimace after the lyric, “Who could ever leave me, darling?”

As Buzzfeed pointed out, some Swifties have been dissecting the expression on TikTok. While many saw it as a sassy, silly gesture, others did acknowledge that it's likely pointed at Swift's ex Joe Alwyn, who she was dating when she wrote “The Archer,” a song from her Lover album.

“i was there and i GASPED at that face,” one fan commented. “she really said “well *I* know but i won’t name any names” 😂,” another wrote. “she’s being so blatantly bold towards joe. like something had to have happened. WHAT IS IT TAYLOR?” a third added.

Over on Twitter, a fourth fan tweeted, “Most of us just subtly throw shade in our Instagram Stories, but this woman gets up on a stage and catapults it so damn loud in front of more than 70,000 people. An icon, truly.”

Over the weekend, she appeared to give more detail on what happened between her and Alwyn, whom she dated for six years, in her new song “You're Losing Me.” The lyrics depict a relationship close to its end, and the bridge particularly hits hard at the former couple never getting married.

She sang, “And I wouldn't marry me either / A pathological people pleaser / Who only wanted you to see her / And I'm fadin', thinkin' / ‘Do something, babe, say something’ (Say something) / ‘Lose something, babe, risk something’ (You're losin' me) / ‘Choose something, babe, I got nothing (I got nothing) / To believe, unless you're choosin' me.’”

Shortly after Swift and Alwyn's breakup was reported in April, multiple sources told People that the former couple had been “talking about marriage as recently as a few months ago.”

Ultimately, “Taylor didn't see them working out in the long run,” a source told People, describing the split as “not dramatic.”

“They are friendly. She doesn't have anything bad to say about Joe,” the source added. “They just grew apart. Taylor is staying very focused on her tour right now.”

Swift is now dating Matty Healy.
