Hundreds of Taylor Swift fans reportedly swarmed a Connecticut restaurant Thursday afternoon after reports from a fan account claimed that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were dining there with bestie Blake Lively

According to Page Six, the New Caanan, Connecticut, restaurant The Elm was forced to "lock the backdoor" as Swifties attempted to "catch a glimpse" of the new couple. After some fans tried to force their way into the restaurant, the fire department arrived with three police officers to try and calm the crowd.

Although the restaurant was shut down for lunch service, and refused to comment on the rumors, Swift was later spotted that same day in West Hollywood at celebrity-loved hotspot Sushi Park. Travis Kelce was similarly photographed elsewhere, at practice in Kansas City.

So...why was everyone convinced Swift was at lunch in New Canaan? US Weekly reports that the rumors surfaced as the result of stuffed dolls tied to a nearby lamppost that were promoting The Young Women’s League of New Canaan Scarecrow Fest. Somehow this is not a joke.

"There were crowds of young people outside the restaurant trying to peek in," a source told the outlet. The dolls, meanwhile, featured an apparently convincing blonde wig and Kansas City Chiefs uniform, in an attempt to resemble Swift and Kelce.

This is hardly the first time Swift's presence (or rumored presence) has caused such a stir. New Jersey locals similarly swarmed bars and restaurants where she was spotted during Jack Antonoff's wedding over the summer. A-listers like Cara Delevingne, Zoë Kravitz, Channing Tatum, and more also descended on Long Beach Island for Antonoff's nuptials to Margaret Qualley.

And while the beach town was flooded with fans attempting to get a glimpse at Swift, other Swifties argued that it was a total invasion of privacy and respect. "The audacity meter is beyond," a TikToker wrote, adding that the crowd was "disrespectful" to both Swift and Antonoff. Another added that it was "absolutely disgusting" and "ruined" Antonoff and Qualley's wedding.

"Zoë Kravtiz’s face is literally all of us watching you crazy psychopaths last night," another fan wrote.
