Taylor Swift Dressed as "The Little Mermaid" For New Year's Eve

And it's wonderful.

In a night of already epic celebrations and surprise Stranger Things news, Taylor Swift went ahead and took the crown for best costumed New Year's celebration. The singer — who is known for her famous bashes — rang in 2019 with lots of surprise guests.

As Swifties everywhere celebrated the New Year with the release of Taylor's Netflix special, the singer apparently had a New Year's party, and the required attire was costume. Taylor introduced Instagram followers to some of the special guests in attendance, pointing out that Mary Poppins (Gigi Hadid), Audrey, Ariel, Ms. Frizzle, Cinderella (Iris Apatow), Gwen (Ashley Avignone), Mr. Toad, Avril, Nancy Drew, Posh Spice ( Abigail Anderson), Rizzo, Frida Kahlo, Steve Irwin, and Dorothy (Blake Lively) were all there for the celebration.

She explained the choice of attire, writing, "This new year we decided to dress up as our childhood heroes. Sending you all love and hope going into 2019." As for which childhood hero Taylor went as? The singer picked a very appropriate alter ego, and dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. For her costume — which featured a long red wig — the singer rocked a mermaid tail, red lipstick, and carried a small red crab handbag.

There's no word whether the bash included a viewing of Taylor's Reputation concert movie, but the photos certainly looked to capture a fun evening. The singer may have taken a break from her Fourth of July parties, but as her past celebrations have shown, Taylor definitely knows how to plan a memorable evening. If only we could secure an invite, too.
