Taylor Swift might be a ten-time Grammy Award winner, but her life experiences are just beginning to blossom. For example, the 30-year-old singer recently admitted that she didn’t eat a burrito for the first 25 years of her life.
Swift dropped the bombshell in her all-new Netflix documentary, Miss Americana, which features behind-the scenes footage of the musician in the studio (she was 29 at the time). In one clip, the “You Need to Calm Down” singer is chatting with her music producer, Joel Little, about what food they should order.
Suddenly, Swift poses a seemingly hypothetical question, saying, “Do you eat burritos?” Little laughs it off, assuming she’s joking. But she’s not. “Do you?” Swift presses.
When Little confirms that he eats burritos, Swift proceeds to defend her statement, not realizing she’s in the minority. “Some people don’t!” she adds.
“Who doesn’t eat burritos?” Little jokes, which prompts Swift to drop a bombshell no one saw coming.
“I didn’t ever eat burritos until, like, two years ago,” she says. “I just had never tried one.”
“Never tried one?” We find it extremely hard to believe that Swift was never presented with the opportunity to consume a delicious burrito until she was in her mid-twenties. Like, has she ever been to a Mexican restaurant? We’re almost afraid to ask if she’s ever tried enchiladas or—dare we say—a margarita.
Although she ended up ordering a burrito in the documentary (phew!), there’s only one fitting solution to this debacle: Swift must be a taco gal.
