Taylor Swift’s “Delicate” Music Video Doesn't Look Like It's About Joe Alwyn

A theory.

Taylor Swift officially dropped her "Delicate" music video at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards and it doesn't look like the Reputation artist revealed more details about her relationship with Joe Alwyn like many people anticipated.

The video starts off with Taylor being interviewed on the red carpet while wearing a (surprise) blue dress. She enters a hotel where she takes photos with some fans and eventually heads to some fun in front of a bathroom mirror. Then she realizes that she's gone invisible to everyone else thanks to a magical note someone passed to her. Rather than freak out, she uses the new power to her advantage and breaks into a dance routine all throughout the hotel lobby. Once Taylor's had her fun, she heads out into the streets of the city and makes her way — barefoot! in the rain! — to The Gopher, where the effect of the enchanted note wears off and everyone's able to see her again.

There had been a couple of clues about who the song might be about because of the lyrics, including tidbits about "Third floor on the West Side, me and you / Handsome, your mansion with a view," which some think may be a nod to Joe's hometown of London. Taylor also croons, "Dark jeans and your Nikes, look at you / Oh damn, never seen that color blue." Not only are Joe's eyes indeed blue, but the duo were recently seen out on a hike together with him wearing blue jeans. It's quite possible Taylor was trying to drive up buzz about the "Delicate" release leading up to the iHeartRadio Music Awards. But the video doesn't explicitly allude to anything about Joe.

Taylor had announced early last week that the video for "Delicate" would premiere at the awards show in the form of an adorable video that had plenty of Swifties eagerly-awaiting the days leading up to the event. "Delicate" is the sixth single off of Taylor's Reputation album, following "Look What You Made Me Do," "...Ready for It?", "End Game," "New Year's Day," and "Gorgeous." TSwift also had fans freaking out after announcing that "Havana" singer Camila Cabello and Charli XCX will be opening on her Reputation tour, so plenty of things are on the horizon for Swifties everywhere.

She also posted a snippet of her video to Instagram and seemingly meme-d herself, writing, "Your crush is coming, act natural."
