It all started out with a fateful friendship bracelet at the Eras Tour. During an episode of the podcast New Heights in July 2023 (which Travis Kelce co-hosts with his brother Jason) the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs star revealed that he tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with the digits of his phone number before her concert for her Eras Tour at the Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs home ground.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings, so I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” Travis admitted, adding: “She doesn’t meet anybody — or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal, but it was an unbelievable show.”

Jason, whose Eagles lost to Travis’ Chiefs in the 2024 Super Bowl, had a theory as to why Swift didn’t want to meet his brother that night. “She probably just hasn’t gotten over the Super Bowl yet,” Jason quipped. “She’s a big Eagles fan, so maybe she just made something up and didn’t want to talk to you.” Travis exclaimed: “Dammit!”

Since then, though, a source told The Messenger that Travis and Taylor had been “quietly hanging out” and she’s been spotted at two Chiefs games: Against the New York Jets on October 2 and before that, against the Chicago Bears on September 24 where she was seen cheering alongside Travis’ mom Donna Kelce. Though as of game day morning, Kelce was listed as Questionable owing to a low-ankle sprain he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings. He slipped to the turf on a non-contact play and limped to the sidelines, emerging from the locker rooms just before the third-quarter kick-off to score a touchdown.

“I feel like Travis has the same mindset as I do,” Mahomes told reporters in the post-game press conference. “If you give him a window to get back in the game, he’s going to be back in the game. … Competitor, man. That’s why he’s one of the greatest, that he can battle through stuff like that. And he came back and made a lot of great catches for us.” Low ankle sprains can take 1-3 weeks to recover so it’s unclear whether the Chiefs will risk their champion TE.

“I felt a little bit of pressure, and so I knew I had to get it to Trav,” referring to the touchdown that Taylor celebrated in a suite with Travis’ mother. “He does his own thing and just makes up a route, and I throw it to him,” Mahomes said. “I think he wanted to get in the end zone just as much as all the Swifties wanted him to.”

He then revealed if he’s been in contact with Taylor. “She’s a pop star. She’s a tremendous singer, tremendous at everything she does. I haven’t gotten to meet her, but I guess if she ends up being with Travis, then I’ll probably meet her at some point. Seems like a good person, so hopefully I get to meet her one day,” he said.

“He told me at the last minute,” Patrick said about if he knew that she would come. “There’s some things with Trav where he kind of just says it, and you don’t know if it’s true or not. He says it so calmly.”

“He was just like, “Oh, yeah, I think she’s coming to the game … this weekend,’ and just moved about his business,” he recalled.
