Taylor Swift Called Out Netflix and "Ginny & Georgia" for Misogynistic Line About Her Dating Life

Taylor Swift fans are not happy with Netflix's latest hit Ginny & Georgia which recently came out on the streaming service.
On Sunday, February 28, "RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT" started to trend on Twitter. According to many fan tweets, the show had a line during its tenth episode that went, "What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift." Obviously, we don't have to point out what's wrong in that sentence and fans are definitely not having it.
Fans are also pointing out another Taylor Swift line in Degrassi: Next Class, which is also an original series on the streamer, where one character says, "Taylor Swift made an entire career off of her exes."
@netflix we ask you to do something about this.

Whether or not scripts get vetted by someone over at Netflix before they are released is unclear.
Many people found it ironic how two Netflix series had misogynistic lines about Taylor, especially since she released two films under the service: Miss Americana and Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour.
.@netflix after profiting off her with Miss Americana, now u guys think it's okay to slut-shame her and discredit her more than a decade long hardwork?

Taylor also called out Netflix and the series' writers in a tweet writing, "Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse sh*t as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you. Happy Women’s History Month I guess."

The trend also follows the recent call out against Peacock for their Saved by the Bell reboot where a joke about Selena Gomez's kidney transplant caused fans to ask them to edit the episode.
Fans are now calling on Netflix to edit the jokes out in a new petition on Change.org as well as having them "pledge to ensure that no future 'Netflix Original' shows perpetuate misogynistic narratives."
Hopefully a quick change can be made so the joke can be taken off and that it starts a bigger conversation when it comes to lines on TV.
