Taylor Swift's Music Video "ME!" Featuring Brendon Urie Has Already Broken YouTube Records

I am not surprised at all.

Taylor Swift sure knows how to stir up excitement on the internet.

After nearly two weeks of cryptic clues, an ominous countdown clock, and chickens sporting sunglasses, Tay finally gave us what we didn’t know we were waiting for: a collab with Panic! At the Disco’s Brendon Urie.

The newly released single “ME!” dropped on April 26 at midnight as promised, and, unsurprisingly, the music video has already smashed some major YouTube records. According to the platform, “ME!” accrued 65.2 million views by Saturday night, meaning that Taylor now holds the record for the leading female and solo 24-hour debut for any music video on YouTube. And, as Taylor herself noted, it seems to be purely fate, given that 6 + 5 + 2 comes out to 13, AKA her favorite — and apparently lucky — number.

Ahead of the song’s release, Taylor spoke with Robin Roberts on Thursday, April 25, where she explained the meaning behind the song’s emphatic title, sharing that “ME!” is “about embracing your individuality and really celebrating it and owning it.” She noted that pop songs often have the ability to get stuck in people’s heads, adding: “I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”

Given the impressive buildup leading fans to the single’s release, it sure makes sense that Swifties watched “ME!” so many times in just one day. And now that we know that Taylor hid the name of her forthcoming seventh studio album within the video, we have a feeling that Swifties everywhere are just going to keep on watching. We wouldn't be surprised if more YouTube records are smashed along the way.
