Taylor Swift's Backup Dancer Reveals the Real Meaning of 'Look What You Made Me Do'

If you feel like you had a dream about Taylor Swift last night, it's probably because her comeback has permeated into all corners of your subconscious and every single word to to "Look What You Made Me Do" has been ingrained somewhere in your brain. While you've probably taken a deep dive into just about every theory and hidden-meaning explanations surrounding her all-pervading new single, something you may not know is the real reason behind the title.
Taylor Swift's BFF and backup dancer in the song's music video, Todrick Hall, spilled the details. "I'm so inspired by her," he shared with ET. "And when she says, 'Look what you made me do,' she means, 'Look what you made me do… you made me break records, you made me sell more records than anyone else'…it's just really insane."
We can assume the "you" is multifaceted and directed toward her fans, her infamous famous exes, and the celebs who have crossed her. (But we're not naming names, cough Kanye West cough.)
Since it debuted at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Tay's "Look What You Made Me Do" video has been smashing records left and right. According to Billboard, it now holds the title of most YouTube global streams in a 24-hour period. That's 43.2 million views, knocking out previous record-holder Psy's “Gentleman,” which had 36 million views in its first 24 hours when it launched in 2013.
If that's not enough, the video averaged over 30,000 views per minute in its first 24 hours, with hourly views reaching over 3 million. As of Thursday (August 30), the official video has been watched over 76 million times.
