We talk so much about Taylor Sheridan around here that you'd think we're on a first name basis with him. Well, we don't even know the guy personally, but we certainly are big fans! We love his Western series like Yellowstone and all of its spinoffs, which is why we're happy he has something similar in the works.
In case you didn't already know, the popular filmmaker and showrunner is currently working on his next project: a show called Landman. If this excites you, just wait 'til you hear the details.
With a star-studded cast, including Academy Award-winner Billy Bob Thornton, Landman is a series based on a popular podcast about the oil industry in West Texas. Recently, we got word that the needle was officially moving on production for the series (as of February 2024). It was also reported that famed Hollywood stars, Demi Moore and Jon Hamm, would be joining the cast (among many other names, which we'll get to).
And there's still a lot more to unpack, so read on for everything we know about the first season of Landman so far.
What will Landman season 1 be about?
The series as a whole is based off the podcast, Boomtown. The story is essentially a "modern-day" retelling of the booming interest of Texas' oil rigs, and how "roughnecks and wildcat billionaires" essentially remodeled the way the economy worked. (For better or for worse.) Yeah, it's going to be a story told in true Sheridan style!

Who is in the cast of Landman?
We know that Billy Bob Thornton is our lead. He'll star as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company in Texas. Given the show's premise, we can tell that this character will have a lot of pressure put on him! 😅
Demi Moore will play Cami, a friend to Tommy, and wife to another notable man in the oil industry.
Jon Hamm will be Monty Miller, a supposed friend and professional partner with Tommy. He's also a veteran in the world of oil and business, which will obviously come in handy given the show's premise.
As for the rest of the cast, the names go as followed: Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez.
If any of these names sounds familiar to you, it's cause they should! Many of these actors have appeared in some of our favorite shows, like 1923, Yellowstone, and When Calls the Heart just to name a few!
When will season 1 of Landman premiere?
Right now, there is no confirmed release date. All we currently know is that filming for Landman has begun, which makes us confident that we'll hear an update at some point in the future.
