Taylor Lautner has opened up about the moment he introduced his new wife, Taylor Dome, to his ex-girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift.

The Twilight actor briefly dated the “Anti-Hero” musician after they met on the set of the romcom film Valentine’s Day in 2009. Swift is believed to have written her 2010 song “Back to December”, in which she expresses regret for the way she treated a former partner, about their romance.

Following their split, the former couple have remained on good terms, with Lautner recently making an appearance on stage at Swift’s Eras tour in Kansas City on 8 July, while his new wife, whom he married in 2022, was cheering him on from the crowd. Lautner also appeared in Swift’s music video for her track “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version)”.

In the latest instalment of their joint podcast The Squeeze, Lautner and Dome shared the moment all three Taylors caught up backstage.

In the podcast episode titled Tay & Tay Lautner: Taylor’s Version, Dome confessed that she was a huge Taylor Swift fan, and wore a merchandise t-shirt from Swift’s Eras World Tour.

“I know on paper, it sounds like a tough situation, but I not once was ever worried about it,” Lautner explained.

“We’re just confident in our relationship. [Dome] is the coolest, chillest person ever. She also is a diehard fan of that person.”

“And [Swift] is the sweetest human being on Earth, so it was just a perfect situation.”

Dome, a registered nurse, also explained that she is comfortable with her husband remaining so close to his ex-girlfriend, praising Swift for being a “genius” and “amazing person”.

“It definitely helps that Taylor is as nice as she is and so sweet and respectful,” she said. ‘She’s just a nice person, very disarming. You wouldn’t know she was famous if you didn’t know who she was. You would never know.”

“I’m here for the Swifties. I feel like the middleman,” Dome said of Swift’s fanbase. “I feel like I have a duty to be a voice for the Swifties.”

When Swift surprised her fans and welcomed Lautner to the stage during a Kansas City show at the beginning of the month, she raved about her friendship with the actor to her fans.

“He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video,” she told her fans.

“He and his wife have become some of my closest friends and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name,” Swift said.

While on stage at the Eras show, Lautner did a backflip, and also praised his former girlfriend, telling her: “I just want to say one thing. I respect you so much, for the human you are.”

“You are gracious, humble… I am honoured to know you.”

Lautner met Dome in 2018 while he was on a hiatus from acting, and his sister Makena Moor introduced the pair.

"I wanted to take a step back and enjoy life and spend some time with my family and friends," he previously told People. "And I met my fiancée out of it, so it all worked out."

The couple went public with their relationship in 2018 and Lautner proposed in 2021.

Fans have been praising the married couple for their openness about being friends with Swift, despite Lautner’s past relationship with the singer.

“I’m living for the Taylor cubed era,” wrote one fan.

“The way Taylor is wearing Taylor’s merch,” praised another fan.

One person added: “I knew I picked right when I said Team Jacob.”
