I'm a beauty editor and this Tarte lip balm — on sale for $19 — is my absolute fave
I've worked as a beauty editor for seven years and I've tried hundreds and hundreds of lipsticks — mattes, stains, glosses, you name it. Some of them have even gained a permanent spot in my overflowing medicine cabinet. If I had to pick my favorite, though, it would be the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm. The hybrid (tri-brid?) formula imparts hydration, color and shine after one pass over your lips. It's the type of lip product that complements any look because it doesn't appear overly done or like you went a step too far — even if you use one of the more pigmented colors. Choose from seven shades including Clear, Grapefruit, Guava, Hibiscus, Passion Fruit, Raspberry and Strawberry.
My most used of the bunch is Hibiscus — I love how the natural mauve shade matches everything. I've made my way through at least four tubes of just that color in the last two years and I currently have the whole lineup in my vanity. Try the more dramatic shades, like Raspberry, for winter, and the brighter pops, like Strawberry, for spring. There are more than 10 antioxidant-rich fruit essences infused in the formula and each lip balm smells like coconut. One fan described it as a "tasty, tropical drink."
Another perk: You can easily put on the lip product without a mirror. The glossy formula is super forgiving when it comes to lip lines (even when you draw outside of them) and the hint of color doesn't require a precise hand.
