I tried this Target weekender, and it's my new can't-live-without travel bag
As someone who is constantly traveling on the weekends, I'm always on the lookout for a tote bag or duffel that holds all my stuff without breaking my back (and the bank) — and is stylish to boot. When I saw that Target shoppers and TikTokers alike were obsessed with the A New Day Athleisure Soft Weekender Bag, I knew I had to try it. Let's just say that after one use, I was obsessed, too. Why? It's trendy, fits all the essentials and is a showstopper. I get so many compliments when I use it. I even got stopped in my office building's elevator and asked where I bought it! (I proudly said Targét.) I've moved every other travel bag I own to the back of my closet and will only be using this one going forward.
And have I mentioned how feather-light it is? I will now: It weighs just under one and half pounds. This is a huge plus for me because I absolutely hate how some totes are super heavy before I even fill them up. And, boy, can I fill up my bag. I'm known to jam-pack it with everything from clothes, shoes and toiletries to my laptop and multiple chargers. The A New Day Athleisure Soft Weekender Bag can hold up to 25 pounds and it fits even more than I expected — I've packed it to the point where it's hard to close, but it has stayed strong. It's gotten dirty a few times during my subway and bus travel, but I've been able to easily wipe it clean.
Another perk: It has pockets on the both the inside and outside to store smaller items. I'm all about the multiple compartments and love that it has a dedicated space for my cellphone so I'm not spending time trying to fish it out of the bottom. It also comes with a detachable shoulder strap for easy carrying, though you can use the attached handles if you prefer or sling them over the handles of your rolling suitcase for easy maneuvering (this was extremely helpful during a recent flight to Florida). It's the ideal size for a carry-on — i.e., it easily fits into overhead compartments.
Target shoppers have given the bag a stellar 4.7 overall rating, with one five-star fan calling it "the perfect travel bag.” Another said, "This bag is everything. It was a last-minute impulse buy, but I'll be using it over and over.” A third declared: “It’s so pretty — I smile every time I see it!" I get it, I smile every time I see my bag, too!
The A New Day Athleisure Soft Weekender Bag is available in three neutral colors — black, olive green and caramel — as well as a ruched white check print, which is the style I own. The bag has been known to sell out at Target because it's so popular. My advice: If you see it available, hit "Add to cart" immediately. I'm about to put in a Target order for a second one, in caramel. That's how much I love it. One of these bags just isn't enough — and for $32, the price is just right to get more than one!
