Target Is Selling a $16 'Buttery' Soft Athleisure Tank That's So Similar to Lululemon and Athleta

By now you’re probably aware of the fact that Target’s athleisure and activewear products are up there in terms of style and quality. They even rival more expensive retailers like Lululemon and Athleta. And their new ButterBliss zip-up tank top is no different.
Target’s Wild Fable line dropped a new tank that’s perfect for lounging or getting a bit active: Women's ButterBliss Zip-Up Sweatshirt. Even though it’s called a “sweatshirt” it’s a sleeveless sweatshirt (AKA a tank top) with a half zipper that can turn it from a mock turtleneck to a deeper v-neck. It has a fitted silhouette and is cropped above the waist.

This zip-up tank comes in two colors—black and cobalt blue—and many sizes, ranging from XXS to 4X. The material is an “extra-lightweight fabric” made of polyester and spandex. Just by its name—ButterBliss—you can guess that it’s a pretty soft material. And even though this zip-up sweatshirt tank has no reviews yet to validate that, the matching bottoms have two and the shoppers love the ButterBliss fabric. One reviewer wrote that the Women's High-Rise ButterBliss Bike Shorts—currently $11.20 but are regularly $14—even feel similar to a popular workout brand’s tank top.
“Dupe! The material on these is so soft,” one reviewer wrote. “They are a great dupe for align.”
The “align” they’re talking about is Lululemon’s Align collection of workout items. This collection is “powered by Nulu fabric” which is “buttery soft” and lightweight. Different Align products have different material makeups (ranging from $29 to $148), but nylon, elastane and Lycra are used throughout that collection.
Target’s ButterBliss fabric is made from 83% recycled polyester and 17% spandex. Considering the name, the promise of a buttery fabric and that review, you can bet that this tank (and any other products in this fabric) feels as high-end and soft as Lululemon’s.

Pacifica Illume UPF Fitted Tank, $59 at Athleta
In terms of style, though, this sleeveless sweatshirt from Target looks a lot like Lululemon’s Tight-Fit Lined Half-Zip Tank Top ($64) or Athleta’s Pacifica Illume UPF Fitted Tank ($59). The latter comes in four colors and sizes XXS through 3X. It’s made for swimming and water sports, so the material is a bit different from the Target tank. But the zipper at the neck and the sleeveless part definitely make it comparable.
Target’s ButterBliss fabric is used in a lot of new products from Wild Fable and seems to be a hit all around (judging by the products with reviews). So if you’re looking for leggings, shirts and more in a soft, movable fabric at affordable prices, Target is the place for you.
