Many major chains, including Walmart, will remain closed on Christmas Day this year. Many restaurants will also be closed, although a surprising number of restaurants will remain open on Dec. 25 for takeaway, and in some cases, even dining in.

Yes, Target stores will be open on Christmas Eve. Last year, most locations closed at 8:00 p.m. local time, so we're expecting similar hours in 2022.

Is Target open on Christmas Day?
Target stores will be closed on Christmas Day, and most will reopen at their regular time on Dec. 26.

Last year, many Target locations remained open until midnight from Dec. 5 through Dec. 23 to allow more time for last-minute shopping. In 2020, they began their extended hours on Dec. 11, so we'd expect their extended hours to begin either the first or second week of December this year.
