In my house growing up, there were a few Christmas decor items that would make my mother tear up when she took them out of storage in late November. Some were the (otherwise ugly) tree ornaments I had crafted myself out of glue and pipe cleaners, while others were special heirlooms she'd been holding onto for decades. One of those items was, and remains, a ceramic Christmas tree.

Of course, she's not the only one out there holding onto these literally precious items (they're easily broken, especially when one has kiddos underfoot trying out their new Nerf guns from Santa). Ceramic Christmas trees were popular holiday decor items in the 1960s and '70s, and a hankering for all things midcentury has recently driven up prices on eBay. Sellers on Amazon and Etsy have jumped in to satisfy the nostalgia for the figurines, as well as tiny ceramic night-lights, and now Target has jumped into the fray.

Everyone's favorite wildly addictive superstore is offering ceramic Christmas trees in two colors—green and white—and they come in three sizes: 18 inches, 14 inches, and seven inches. The largest comes in at $60. The oversize "light bulbs" on the tree's branches even look old-timey, with their multifaceted sides and retro shape.

They'd look nice on a side table or entryway, or glowing in a window, A Christmas Story–style. Buy one now and take good care of it, and your grandkids might be unwrapping it every November while getting all warm and fuzzy.
