Target Announces It's Slashing Prices on 5,000 Popular Items in Stores

As Americans continue to scrape by amid high inflation rates, one store is offering shoppers some relief at the register.

Target just announced that it's slashing prices on approximately 5,000 of its most popular items in stores. The iconic brand has already reduced prices on about 1,500 of its items with thousands more price cuts planned to roll out throughout the summer. It will cover many kitchen items like milk, meat, bread, soda, fruit, vegetables, snacks, yogurt, peanut butter, and coffee, as well as other household items like diapers, paper towels, and pet food.

The low prices won't just cover name-brand products, as products from Target's store brands Good & Gather and Everspring will also see lower prices, whether that be for food or for household items and health and beauty products. In addition, with Memorial Day around the corner, there will be even more low prices to take advantage of.

Rick Gomez, Target's executive vice president and chief food, essentials, and beauty officer, chimed in on the news in a statement.

"We know consumers are feeling pressured to make the most of their budget, and Target is here to help them save more," he said. "Our teams work hard to deliver great value every day, and these new lower prices across thousands of items will add up to additional big savings for the millions of consumers that shop Target each week for their everyday needs."

The move comes as many corporations have been accused of price gouging, even by the president himself. Target's news of more affordable prices, then, should come as a welcome announcement from many Americans' go-to big-box store.
