From Woman's Day

Everyone knows that the 4th of July goes hand-in-hand with fireworks shows, outdoor parades, and showing off as much American pride as humanly possible. The anticipated summer holiday does celebrate our nation's birthday and hard-earned independence, after all, meaning a patriotic party in honor of the U.S.A. is practically a given. And, naturally, no festive backyard cookout would be complete without the essentials — delicious grilled fare, fun cocktails (and non-alcoholic, kid-friendly renditions), plus plenty of patriotic decorations and laid-back games to help set the mood and entertain the masses.

But great holiday planning comes with great responsibility, and whether you're this year's neighborhood party host or a side-dish-bearing guest, you have plenty to stock up on before July 4 rolls around this year. (Those star-spangled 4th of July desserts won't make themselves!) Whatever cuisine you're bringing to the table, you've probably mapped out all your cooking needs in advance and planned your pre-holiday grocery trip accordingly. If not, no shame — because no matter how much you've prepped for the 4th, there's always something, no matter how big or small, that's bound to slip your mind.

Maybe you happened to misplace the sugar that you swore you put in your shopping cart at the store. Maybe you're somehow in need of blue icing to match your red-and-white-striped cupcakes come July 4. Maybe you even offered to pass out flag-infused party favors to the little ones, but your leftover supply from last year won't cut it. Either way, what's a time-pressed chef or party host to do with such short notice on the holiday itself? One word: Target.

Luckily for you, a Target spokesperson confirmed to CountryLiving.com that the red-and-white bullseye hotspot will be open with normal business hours on the 4th of July. However, each store's schedule varies by location, so you'll still need to check your local Target's specific hours using the chain's online locator feature, which gives each week's upcoming lineup. And let's not kid ourselves here — we know you're probably going to run in for one basic grocery necessity and come out with an armload of red-white-and-blue hats from the $1 section. Because that's just a Target-shopping fact of life, and we have zero qualms.

On the off chance that Target doesn't have what you're looking for (which is practically unheard of), you won't be left in the dust. Plenty of grocery and convenience stores, as well as a handful of restaurants, will be also accessible on July 4 for all your holiday needs. So, now that you can breathe easy knowing you don't need to re-check your grocery list for the millionth time, focus on enjoying a relaxing Independence Day with your nearest and dearest.
