Tarek El Moussa's Message to His Kids After Learning He's Cancer Free Will Make You Tear Up
Shortly after Flip or Flop's second season premiered in 2013, Tarek El Moussa was diagnosed with not one type of cancer, but both thyroid and testicular cancer. Now, six years later, the house-flipping TV star is officially cancer free.
"I remember the production company calling me and telling me they understand if I can't move forward," Tarek shared on Instagram. Though he had to undergo two surgeries and underwent radioactive iodine treatment that left him routinely nauseous-not to mention his head pounding from migraines just about every day-he persevered.
"I told myself no matter what, you can't quit!" he wrote.
Tarek wrote that he teared up while writing the post, as he thought of his two children, Brayden and Taylor. "They are my everything, and they need their daddy! This news is so good because I’m alive to be here for THEM," he explained.
Rewinding to just before season 2, the HGTV star originally went in for tests because a nurse, who was a an of the show, wrote in to producers stating she believed a lump she saw on Tarek's throat was thyroid cancer. She turned out to be his hero-she was right. After searching his medical records for anything else that may be irregular, he and his then-wife Christina noticed other irregularities. Soon after, Tarek was scheduled for surgeries and radioactive iodine therapy to beat both forms of cancer.
"From the bottom of my heart, I love all of you," Tarek ended his emotional Instagram post. "I read all your comments and feel like I know so many of you. You have followed me so long I’d probably recognize you on the street. I’m saying this because I appreciate you and all of your support...thank you again from the bottom of my heart ❤️"
