HGTV's Tarek El Moussa and Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young are making moves. The recently engaged couple are now the current owners of a house in Newport Beach, California. However, before they can call it home, they’re going to have to roll up their sleeves and make some major renovations.
On Wednesday, El Moussa gave fans a peek of the new home via his Instagram Stories alongside fiancé Young. However, there wasn’t much to see yet. El Moussa walks through the empty home, which has hardwood floors and white walls, noting that they would be working with a designer to transform the space. Young refers to it as a "blank slate."
The mini tour continues on the rooftop, which overlooks the Pacific ocean. El Moussa admits that the view sold them on the house.
While El Moussa and Young's new home may seem like a spontaneous purchase, a rep for the couple reveals to People they never intended to live here. "Tarek originally bought it as a flip but then they decided to make it their new home," the rep tells the outlet, adding that this will be their first renovation project together. "They have a lot they want to do with it and the house needs some work so they are going to continue to live in their current home until the new home is ready."
The couple currently lives in a rental house also located in Newport Beach. They purchased it back in April, but never intended to get too comfortable there. "This is our in-between house until we build or find the perfect house," El Moussa told People at the time.
From the looks of it, they found their opportunity to build the perfect house! Who would have thought that one of El Moussa's business ventures would turn into their family home? Details have not yet been revealed on the couple’s renovation timeline and/or when they plan to move into the home, but if we know anything about El Moussa, he has a pretty quick turnaround rate when it comes to renovating homes. Congrats you two!
