TAP Air Portugal is celebrating the new year with a new flight sale offering trips to Europe and beyond starting as low as $379 round-trip.

The airline’s sale, which must be booked by Jan. 18, has big savings on flights to Portugal along with more than 35 other destinations across Europe, TAP Air Portugal shared with Travel + Leisure. The sale is valid on travel from Jan. 11 through May 31.

"As we celebrate the start of a new year, there's no better time to lock in a great deal for travel to Portugal and beyond, throughout Europe and Africa," Carlos Antunes, TAP Air Portugal's director for the Americas, told T+L.  "TAP's new year fares are on sale for the next two weeks, for travel until the end of May, and all sale fares include an optional stopover in Lisbon or Porto for no additional airfare."

Travelers looking to take advantage of the incredibly low sale fares can fly from any of TAP’s nine gateway cities in the United States and Canada: Boston, Chicago, Miami, Montreal, New York, Newark, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.

Travel round-trip from Chicago to Copenhagen starting at just $379, or fly round-trip from the New York area to Paris for just $10 more. Travelers can fly round-trip from Washington, D.C. to Oslo starting at just $399, fly round-trip from Boston to Stockholm starting at just $409, or fly round-trip from Miami to Berlin starting at just $499.

The sale also includes the chance to add a stopover of one to 10 days in Lisbon or Porto in Portugal for no extra cost. Passengers can then choose to add a second stopover in Portugal (either on the mainland or to its famous Azores or Madeira islands) and receive a 25 percent discount on the domestic ticket.

TAP Air Portugal was recently named one of the safest airlines in the world, coming in at No. 17 on the list. The airline is part of the Star Alliance, joining American carrier United Airlines.
