Tanner Hall: "Mammoth Is Heaven On Earth Right Now"

You (maybe) heard it here first: "Mammoth is heaven on Earth right now."

That's pro skier Tanner Hall's assessment of Mammoth Mountain, California, which, based on his recent Instagram upload, looks 100% accurate. Heaven on Earth, indeed.

Mammoth is clearly the place to be this summer.

Despite the dwindling snowpack, the resort continues to serve up off-piste turns, and the freestyle park looks to still have some life to it.

Yet, the Mammoth dream is finally coming to a close in the near future. Last week, the resort took to Instagram to announce that it would close for summer skiing on Sunday, August 6th.

While we'll be sad to see Mammoth go, the resort's reopening for the 2023-2024 winter is right around the corner. Mammoth typically opens in early to mid-November.

However, should you get the ski bug in August, Timberline Lodge, Oregon, remains an option. While the summer terrain is less variable than Mammoth, Mt. Hood is a special, special place, and Timberline often offers skiing into early September, snow conditions dependent.
