Tandem Skiers Dupe Country's Largest Cross-Country Ski Race

Every now and then, the internet serves up a piece of content that is bizarre yet executed with seriousness reserved for, well, more serious matters.

This video, which features a pair of Nordic skiers attempting to tandem ski the largest North American cross-country ski race -- the American Birkebeiner -- fits that bill.

My deepest thanks go out to my editor for tracking this down. It's hilarious.

Throughout, I felt like I was watching a long-lost episode of "Nathan For You" because of the deadpan humor and unwavering commitment to the bit.

Despite the thoroughness of "Tandem XC Skiing PART 2 (Pionners)" (what a title, by the way), though, I was left wanting after my first viewing.

I mean, who are these guys? Joe Dubay, one of the tandem skiers, won the Birke in 2012 (no small feat) but was disqualified and banned from the Birke for two years because he was wearing the bib of his friend and creator of this video, Chris Parr. Both Chris and Joe were also fined.

That's weird, right? And then there's the whole relatively unknown Youtuber dropping a hilarious, should-be-viral video thing.

I just have a lot of questions. I also need more from Chris and Joe. These guys nailed the execution of this one.

If you're experiencing a similar sensation, the duo uploaded a prequel to the video you just watched, which explains the origins of their tandem skiing project. See it below.
