As one of the hosts on The Real, Tamera Mowry-Housley has been on TV five-days-a-week since 2013. But still, the former Sister, Sister actress has been itching to get back to her true passion after a "10-year acting hiatus." It's only natural that she would lean on her "obsession with all things Christmas" to star in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' A Christmas Miracle — her first movie with a starring role in nearly a decade.

Beyond the magic of Christmas, Tamera, who also serves as the Executive Producer for the movie, wanted a project that she felt personally connected to. "I wanted it to be a reflection of me, and I felt like Hallmark is just that," she tells GoodHousekeeping.com. In the movie, Tamera plays Emma Sanderson, a single mom "trying to start her life over after getting a divorce." After putting her passion on hold to raise her family, the former lifestyle magazine writer is in a compromising position: She's on her own to support her family, and takes an assistant job at her hometown publication to find her sense of purpose (and possibly love) again. For Tamera, the movie serves as a reminder that even if "you have a detour, it's okay to turn back around and start all over again, whether it's in love, career, or family."

Even though Emma's life is drastically different from Tamera's — she has two kids with husband of eight years Adam Housley — she still found ways to bring her maternal instincts to the movie. "A mother and son relationship is a different dynamic," she explains. "Even the way Emma put on her son Tyler's coat or touched his chin are things that I brought from my relationship with my son Aden."

To prepare for the role, Tamera leaned on her twin sister Tia, who has starred in numerous TV Christmas movies including Lifetime's A Very Vintage Christmas airing later this month. "She prepared me for the long nights, and reminded me to remember to have fun in the process. It's easy when you're shooting night scenes and ending your day at 5:30 a.m. to lose sight of that," she tells us.

Even in those "exhausting moments," Tamera caught "the acting bug," and confirms that she'll definitely take on more acting roles in the near future. As for the rumors that Tia and Tamera will partner up for another movie (something they haven't done since 2000)? "We are such twins because I just said to my director of A Christmas Miracle that I would love to do with a Christmas movie with Tia and Tahj," Tamera laughs. "It's magic onscreen when we work together. It's not something we create, it's just there." The one catch: "We'd probably have to film it over a longer period of time because we'd be laughing every single take."

While there isn't any specific movie in the works (yet), Tamera is clearly 100% on board. "Maybe next year," she exclaims.
