Tamera Mowry-Housley and her husband, Adam Housley, are mourning the loss of their niece, Alaina Housley, who was one of the victims killed in a mass shooting Wednesday in Thousand Oaks, California.
The couple released the following statement to Us Weekly:
“Our hearts are broken. We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks. Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”
Before learning about Alaina's death, Tamera and Adam used social media to learn the whereabouts of their niece, who was missing for several hours.
Tamera was able to get in touch with Alana's suitemate, Ashley, on Twitter, who informed The Real host that "a handful of girls went to line dance tonight and they’re not all accounted for."

Meanwhile, Adam asked his followers for prayers and even responded to a troll who used the tragedy to slam the former Fox News correspondent.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Adam also tried to visit Los Robles Regional Medical Center around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, where many of the victims were taken for medical assistance. He was turned away because the hospital was on lockdown.
After confirming Alaina's death, Adam posted a photo of his niece on Instagram with the caption, "I really don’t know what to say other than I love this girl with all my heart and I’d give my life right now for a miracle. #thehousleys."
CNN reports that 12 people were killed in the mass shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill Wednesday night. Police identified the shooter as a 28-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and an investigation to determine the motive is still ongoing.
