Starting tomorrow, you can get a head-start on the scarf trend we’ve seen at Marine Serre, Richard Quinn, and Rosie Assoulin this season. Tamara Mellon, who relaunched her namesake shoe label back in 2016, is debuting a special project for International Women’s Day: a limited-edition capsule of ’70s-style platform sandals wrapped with vintage scarves. Each pair is made from its own scarf and entirely unique, “just like the women who wear it,” Mellon says. “This shoe is a celebration of individuality and unapologetic feminism.”

Feminism in a shoe? Well, that vision comes through in Mellon’s first-ever campaign, which features four women who are disrupting their respective fields. There’s Angela Rye, a political strategist and principal and CEO of political advocacy firm IMPACT Strategies; Westworld co-creator and executive producer Lisa Joy; and Paola Mendoza and Sarah Sophie Flicker, two of the founding members of the Women’s March. “I’m extremely proud to partner with these women who fearlessly use their unique voices to champion individuality and diversity in everything that they do,” Mellon says.

The shoes retail for $595 and reflect Mellon’s “inner hippie”—she hand-picked the scarves at Los Angeles flea markets, which gives the collection a surprisingly eco-friendly twist. “I’m always looking to the past to inspire new designs, so it seemed like a natural fit to incorporate actual vintage fabrics into this shoe,” Mellon says. “I believe the new era of luxury is about considered consumption and investing in fewer, better things that are designed to last for a long, long time.”

From a strictly fashion standpoint, the sandals will also be a colorful addition to her current selection, which mostly consists of neutrals like her celebrity-favorite Frontline stilettos (they lengthen the leg with “floating” PVC straps) and her signature Sweet Revenge legging boots (from 2013, way before Balenciaga!). Shop those longstanding hits now on tamaramellon.com and check back tomorrow to secure your scarf shoes—but hurry! Quantity is limited.
