The Talk is welcoming a new cast member to the family.

On Wednesday, the daytime show announced that actor and TV personality Jerry O’Connell is joining cohosts Sheryl Underwood, Carrie Ann Inaba, Elaine Welteroth and Amanda Kloots on the panel. Jerry is replacing longtime cohost Sharon Osbourne three months after she left following a particularly heated on-air argument with Sheryl. Before landing the exciting gig, the 47-year-old father of two served as a fill-in host for the hit CBS series in the spring.

“You ladies have been so welcoming to me,” Jerry said on Wednesday’s broadcast. “I came here as a guest months ago and just from the moment I walked in, you’re just gracious, you’re kind, you’re fun and it worked. And here we are. We’re going to have a lot of fun, we really are.”

Carrie Ann, who has been on a leave of absence from the show since late April, wasn’t able to celebrate with Jerry in person, but she sent a heartwarming message on Instagram. “Congratulations to Jerry! He’s one of the nicest people in television! Welcome to @thetalkcbs family. ❤️ thank you for making us smile!” she wrote in The Talk's Instagram comments section.

Upon hearing the exciting news, The Talk fans took to Twitter to share loving and supportive words about the Star Trek star.

“Congratulations Jerry. I love this. You are a great addition to the ladies. Keep making us smile,” one person wrote. “I am so happy you picked Jerry it will [be] awesome to watch him and the beautiful cast you have there. I look forward to watching always,” another added. “Congrats @MrJerryOC I am glad people have so much respect for your entire body of work and the unique perspective and personality you bring to everything you do. World Class guy right here! Congratulations! 🍾,” a different fan said.

That said, there were other viewers who voiced their reservations about the decision. “I like Jerry but not for #TheTalk,” a person tweeted. “Jerry? Really? Okay then,” another said.

Personal opinions aside, though, Jerry has officially made history on The Talk as the show's first male cohost. We can’t wait to see what he does!
