A 'Takeshi’s Castle' Reboot is Coming to Amazon Prime Video

According to reports, a reboot of iconic Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle is coming to Amazon Prime Video. Known as MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge in North America, the show hosted by Takeshi Kitano, also known as Beat Takeshi, aired on the Tokyo Broadcasting System between 1986 and 1990.

Dubbed for audiences all over the world, the over-the-top action-variety show captivated viewers and inspired a genre of game shows, ultimately becoming a major part of popular culture.

Set to arrive sometime next year, Return of Takeshi’s Castle (Fukkatsu! Fuun! Takeshi-jo) will see the now 75-year-old Takeshi invite batches of 100 contestants to take on a new set of obstacle games to win prize money. Although not much is known about the reboot, the producers note even more outrageous events and challenges.

Return of Takeshi’s Castle is set to stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video in 2023.
