Tahoe's Largest Ski Resort Opening Lift Despite "Low Tide" Conditions

Palisades Tahoe, CA, has opened a lot of lifts recently, expanding its terrain despite a strange season, conditions-wise. With Broken Arrow, Headwall, and KT now on tap, now, there's one more coming skiers way.

"The skies have cleared and more new terrain is on the way! Sherwood will open tomorrow and it will operate daily, weather and conditions permitting."

Officials at Palisades Tahoe explain that while "snow conditions are extremely thin in this area, in an effort to expand our available skiable terrain, we have decided to move forward with opening."

This is likely a move to spread skiers out across the mountain and control traffic, as well as stoke people out with more trails on offer.

This comes right in time for the weekend, when resorts are at their most crowded.

"Sherwood will have no grooming except for the maze."

"This means that if you are going to ski or snowboard in this area, you need to be aware of your surroundings. No beginners should attempt this terrain in these 'low-tide' conditions."

Shirley's location makes it ideal for snow preservation due to its high elevation on the mountain.

Plus, if you aren't looking to hike, according to the ski blog PeakRankings, Shirley's "shorter trails make it a good progression area after hitting Palisades Tahoe’s beginner terrain."
