Thinking of giving your hair a chop to deal with the summer heat? Take a few tips from Tuesday’s Chanel Fall 2015 Haute Couture show and hairstylist Sam McKnight. For the intimate casino-themed show in Paris, McKnight sent models like Kendall Jenner, Lindsey Wixson, and Soo Joo Park down the runway with jet black, blunt, asymmetrical wigs.
Most recently, at Celine’s spring show in Paris, hair stylist Guido Palau pulled half of each models’ hair back and secured it with a round gold clip. (You can get the look now with this Large “O” Barrette ($45) from President and Co.) At Lanvin, Palau tucked traditional gold combs underneath low-slung knots. If you’re not up for sourcing vintage combs on eBay or Etsy, try this tusk-shaped one from Luv AJ ($120), or this Sylvain Le Hen ($80) comb. At Bottega Veneta, Palau used combs again, this time brooding dark floral ones meant to dress up the hastily built buns.
It was a big deal when an almost unrecognizable Kendall Jenner hit the runway for Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week in February. The California girl turned punk for the collection Karl Largerfeld described as “Baroque meets Le Corbusier.” Hairstylist Sam McKnight built wind-swept faux hawks on each model, lending the formal clothes the house’s trademark stamp of irreverence.
