As if ordering from the brunch menu weren't hard enough, most restaurants accost you with a basket practically spilling over with baked goods the moment you sit down. You need to be cognizant of what you're eating, but don't feel like you have to resist entirely, says Frances Largeman-Roth, R.D., a nationally recognized health expert and author of the upcoming Eating in Color: Delicious, Healthy Recipes for You and Your Family. "More and more restaurants-and bakeries-are offering mini versions of baked goods, like scones, muffins, and croissants. "Take one and enjoy it, or if you just have to try more, go halfsies with a friend. And always look for whole-grain choices; they'll help you feel fuller."
