The 10 Funniest Moms in America

Jenny Lawson
Photo by: Jenny LawsonJenny LawsonAfter running several scientific studies, we, and the two to three million other readers who regularly flock here, conclude that Jenny Lawson may actually be the funniest woman on earth. What you may not know is that she's among the most generous too. In addition to starting Twitter feuds with William Shatner, baiting an unassuming PETA employee, and adding to her impressive taxidermy collection, this mom of one is also responsible for starting a worldwide movement that encourages readers to say "I'm worth it" and for mobilizing her audience to give $43,000 to strangers from the internet who were short on Christmas cash.

Eden Kenned
Photo by: Eden KennedyEden KennedThe co-author of Let's Panic About Babies! (along with fellow A-lister Alice Bradley), Eden Kennedy turned parenting snark up to eleven with her uber-popular blog, Fussy. One of the oldest mom blogs out there, Kennedy is a sucker for taking down pop culture icons, cutting through the melee of bad parenting advice and demonstrating yoga poses with her son's action figures. - 3/10
Jenny Ingram
Photo by: Jenny IngramJenny IngramOne look at this family portrait and readers know that this mom of three truly does live up to her self-described "all-around silly girl" nature. There's typical mom blogging fare here, including DIY projects, recipes, calls to action for worthy causes and advice for other bloggers, but the real draw is Ingram's voice and her reminders to step back, take a deep breath and, for crying out loud, laugh a little bit. After all, family life can be a little bit dirty. And that's okay. - 4/10
Brittany Gibbons
Photo by: Brittany GibbonsBrittany GibbonsGibbons once stripped down to her skivvies on stage in front of more than 700 people while giving a TEDx talk on body acceptance. She offers the same level of candidness in her blog. Formerly known as the Barefoot Foodie, Gibbons' blog relaunch as Brittany, Herself still contains a bit of food porn, but focuses much more on Gibbons' thoughts on fashion, parenting and wonderfully bizarre e-mail exchanges between the author and her husband. Gibbons is a comedienne at heart, but when it comes to those who define "beautiful" as "skinny," this mom of three wields her humor like a well-sharpened harpoon. Right, Marie Claire? Gibbons also isn't afraid to show her vulnerable side or the things parenting books won't tell you about kids.

Georgia Getz
Photo by: Georgia GetzGeorgia GetzGet past the fact that it's written almost entirely in third person, and this humor blog is a diamond in the internet rough. I Am Bossy features everything from rants on student-teacher sex to open letters to former presidents, with nearly all blog posts featuring a large helping of snark and sometimes self-deprecation. If you're looking for a site you can see fresh content on everyday, you're in the wrong place. But when this mom of two does write, she's thoughtful and spot-on. - 6/10
Eden Riley
Photo by: Eden RileyEden RileyNamed "Australia's Best Blog for 2012″ by the Sydney Writers Centre, Edenland shines because its author is part mom (of two) and part badass (we mean that literally). Riley is smart, witty and unapologetic about her opinions on everything from global humanitarian issues to her struggles as a recovering alcoholic. Careful, readers; you're bound to encounter some off-color language here, and topics that may not sit well with your grammy's bridge club. From writing about the temptations of addiction to the inner stories of New York's homeless to a bitingly sarcastic NSFW tutorial on being beautiful from the va-jay-jay up, nothing's off of Eden's table. - 7/10
Ann Imig
Photo by: Ann ImigAnn ImigThis Madison, Wisconsin mom of two and self-described "stay-at-home humorist" hones her comedic chops by writing for McSweeney's Internet Tendencies and College Humor and appearing in the Hulu comedy Battleground. Ann's armed with a background in live theater and performance, and her writing goes down more like an intimate confession from your funniest friend than a blog written by a stranger. Unsurprisingly, Ann's Rants is devoted less to hardcore parenting strategies and more to irreverent observations, but you've gotta love anyone who invites children to "unearth the self-clumping treasures" of cleaning out the cat's litter box.

Becky Sherrick Harks
Photo by: Becky Sherrick HarksBecky Sherrick HarksAs she explains, "Like anything else I've ever written - even the most banal of blog posts - I am writing it because I can't not." We feel similarly about reading her blog. Harks got the idea to start writing online when her would-be husband thought it would be a great way to make fun of her then-stalker. This mom of three hasn't stopped pushing boundaries since. As expected with a tagline like "Mommy drinks because you cry," this blog is written with razor-sharp wit, but the thing that separates it from the sea of other sarcastic mom blogs is that there's substance underneath, as shown in posts like the one where Harks discusses "pre-partum" depression, or the 10-part story of her daughter's birth and what followed. When she's not writing on Mommy Wants Vodka, Harks also runs the group blog, Band Back Together, in which readers can share their own stories of triumph and tragedy. - 9/10
Diane Lang
Photo by: Diane LangDiane LangThe Ohio mother of a teen daughter and special-needs son, Lang took a job working in her son's school cafeteria so she could be on hand to give him the Heimlich if he choked on his food. Since then, she's garnered an international audience with her personal blog and landed a much-coveted gig as BlogHer's social media guru. Winding, flowery posts have no place here, but readers come back day after day thanks to Lang's uncanny ability to inspire laughter with the simplest of lines. - 10/10
Heather B. Armstrong
Photo by: Heather B. ArmstrongHeather B. ArmstrongNearly 12 years after first launching, Dooce.com is still going strong thanks to Armstrong's distinct voice and sometimes-brutal honesty. Armstrong's style has evolved over the years and now reflects both her power as a media force and the vitriol she's endured from haters over the last decade, but her sense of humor and commitment to showcasing the good and the not-so-good remain constant. Whether she's figuring out her marriage, making us fall in love with her two adorable-beyond-adorable kids or keeping the dog away from her tampons, we're with her all the way.
