10 Songs from the 80s that every kid should know (part one)

Should it make me feel old that I reminisce about 80s music? I can't help it. The music was so fun, so ridiculous. I'm giddy just thinking about The Thompson Twins, Bon Jovi and Skid Row. Not to mention Van Halen, Depeche Mode, Debarge and that cutie Corey Hart.

I bow down to 80s music. I believe deep in my very core that it must live on through our kids to buffer the packaged pop that we hear today. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Justin Timberlake. But I can do without The Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana and this beast called High School Musical.

My list of 80s songs that our kids must know is extensive. So today's Dime Bag starts with part one. Here are the first ten songs, along with their videos, to bring you back to those days when big hair ruled and synthesizers were used to add kick instead of hiding a lead singer's voice. They're corn-dog songs that are so silly younger kids will love them. Older kids? They'll soon be telling their friends, "You have to listen to my parent's oldie's mix!" (I remember saying this exact thing.) Or "Dude, my parent's are killing me with their 80's crap music." (I remember saying this too!).

Okay, here goes:

1. She Blinded Me with Science by Thomas Dolby.

2. Tainted Love by Soft Cell.

3. Mr. Roboto by Styx.

4. Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi.

5. Freakazoid by Midnight Star. (You know you tried poppin' after hearing this song.)
6. Lies Lies Lies by The Thompson Twins.

7. Sister Christian by Night Ranger.

8. I'm Alright, Kenny Loggins.

9. Jeopardy by The Greg Kihn Band
.

10. Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield. (Wait, did you seriously think that I'd leave him out?)
