This Just In: Women Are Taking Longer To Marry and Fewer People Are Divorcing

A new report based on census data and a survey of 55,000 people is showing the changes in marriage and divorce since the 1940s. One of the biggest findings is that almost half of all women ages 25-29 have never walked down the aisle. In 1986, only a quarter of women in that group had never married.

Yikes! Glad I'm not in 1986.
Other findings:
In 1950, the median age for a first marriage was 23 for men and 20 for women.
In 2009, the median age for a first marriage was 28 for men and 26 for women.
In 1996, 40 percent of women 40-49 had been divorced.
In 2009, 35 percent of women 40-49 had been divorced.
Yay!
