Won't somebody think of the children? You can save the rainforest, the whales and your guilty conscience while adopting some or all of these eco-friendly suggestions, guaranteed to make your lifestyle healthier and make others think you've lost your damn mind.
Madeleine, a SkinnyScoop list creator, is a witty Canadian blogger who is passionate about all things writing, green, and healthy. This list was an immediate favorite and has grown to be one of the more popular lists on SkinnyScoop. I mean really, who wouldn't want to want to toss those awful dryer sheets?
Creative and hilarious, Madeleine gives us all some food for thought with these ideas:
Moisturize Using Natural Oils
Get rid of your Jergens. Natural oils, like sesame oil and coconut oil, are some of the best moisturizers around. They're super inexpensive and can be used as lip balm and hair serum too. Starting your day with a coconut oil massage is pretty much the best thing ever. And since your skin absorbs most of what you put onto it, might as well use something you'd eat anyway. (Seriously guys, I don't want to brag but my skin is like silk!)
Choose a Cone Instead of a Cup
I never used to get cones because I didn't like eating them - just give me my damn ice cream! But the alternative is often a little, one-time use plastic dish. Get the cone, even if you don't eat it you come out ahead. Eating an ice cream cone the old fashioned way (with the complex system of rotating, licking and avoiding drips) guys, it 's probably better than crossword puzzles for your brain.
Ditch the Shampoo and Conditioner
I'm going to lose you on this one, I can feel it. But, hear me out. For three years now I've used baking soda as shampoo, and apple cider vinegar as conditioner. I don't look like a greasy troll, I promise! Just try it.
