New obesity task force reveals goals

Three months after the First Lady launched Let's Move! - a program that aims to end the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation - the campaign's obesity task force unveiled its 70-point plan for returning childhood obesity to five percent by 2030, the rate it was at before childhood obesity first began to rise in the late 1970s.

The task force's recommendations include providing healthy food in schools, improving access to healthy, affordable food, and getting children more physically active. More details here.

At-home personal trainers now more affordable

It may sound like a luxury, but at-home personal training has become more affordable in this down economy, according to this article in the New York Times. It says it's a buyer's market because many personal trainers, as well as yoga and Pilates instructors, are hungry for work. Any takers?

Some restaurants still serving up trans fats

With the dangers of trans fats highly publicized over the past few years, you'd think restaurants would have stopped using them. But a new report from the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) shows trans fats are still lurking out there. The CSPI finds Bob Evans, White Castle, and Long John Silver's still use trans fat in French fries, onion rings, pancakes, and other foods.
