No, Really, How Are You ?

I'm all about happiness. Look, here's the truth, I've been happy and I've been sad. Happy is definitely better. Wouldn't you agree!?

As a matter of fact, I am so passionate about the fact that "happy is better" that I make it a point when people ask me in passing how I am doing to respond, "I'm happy!" It is fascinating to see the replies I get from people! It really blows them away.

But let me ask you, WHY NOT affirm over and over that you are happy? How many times a day do you get the opportunity to declare your current mental or emotional state? Almost every time you pass an acquaintance or co-worker in the hallway someone will ask you that dismal standard line:

"Hey how are you doing?"

"Fine thanks. And you?"

"I'm good, thanks."

What a silly, meaningless exchange! Life is too short for meaningless exchanges. Start playing with it a bit! The next time someone asks you that bland, milk toast question, see what other responses you can muster up. How about "I'm fabulous and just getting better every day!"? One of my other favorites is, "I'm doing so good there should be two of me!" That will certainly generate an interesting discussion!

The point is that you have the opportunity several times per day to declare your state and way of being. What you focus on expands so do you really want to be just "Fine"? Is that the best you can do? Here is what it boils down to: do you want your life to be socially appropriate or audacious, bold and full of vitality? Come on. Live a little.

How are you, anyway? Write me and tell me your responses. I'll post them in a next blog article.
