How to Stay Chic in the Cold

By Greta Eagan, Glamour magazine

Oh, the climates, they are a-changing! I am not sure what I expected when I flew into New York City for Fashion Week...I think I had grandiose visions of sporting my highest, most stylish heels with an assortment of print-on-print 'ready for spring' ensembles. What I got was the pronounced awakening that it was still winter in New York.

Luckily, somewhere at the bottom of my carry on, I had a pair of black wool socks. I had seen the peep-toe-heels-with-socks trend in action in J.Crew ads, but hadn't yet tried it for myself. I must say, I am a fan.

As a self-proclaimed fashionista (yes, I said it out loud), I always want to look like I care about what I am wearing, but the sensible girl still within me hasn't gone total fashion victim yet-so adding in the wool socks and a wool topper were essential.

I talked about this jacket in a previous post. It is the one I picked up in Vancouver by the label called Obakki. I love their story and how they design, source and produce their growing collection right in the Vancouver area.

Here are the rest of my outfit details (* denotes an eco-fabulous piece):
-Cropped coat*: Obakki, locally sourced and produced = lower carbon footprint
-Top: Max Studio
-Scarf: Jane Carr
-Jeans: J Brand
-Shoes: Jeffery Campbell
-Bag: Tods, nylon (not leather) and an investment piece
