Famous kids whose parents suck

Child stars are notorious for not just growing up, but also screwing in the spotlight, but we can't help but notice a new breed of famous kids. A career driven, press hungry pack of stars who are compensating for the lack of proper love, care and attention of their parents. Often times their parents (ahem Dina and Michael Lohan) may be craving the spotlight themselves, or acting as managers forcing them to keep working when they clearly need a break (a la Jessica Simpson).

With an overbearing acts-too-young-for-her-age mother and a will-sell-out-anyone-for-publicity father, it's a miracle Lindsay Lohan and her sister Ali are as well off as they are. Sure, Lindsay did date around like it was her job and go to rehab, but now she's filming episodes of "Ugly Betty" and has a steady girlfriend. Her father Michael, however, happily runs to tabloids to mouth off about his disproval of her newly-lesbian ways, trashes girlfriend Samantha Ronson and says she's mooching off Lindsay's fame. And we wish it were the first time he's pulled a stunt like this.

Taking the high(er) road, Lindsay took to her MySpace blog, and typed a rather mature responses, discussing how she feels "betrayed" by her father, that "he has no idea what is going on in my life because I have chosen not to involve him in it" and that he's "addicted to fame."

Meanwhile over in Duff land, Hilary's dad was just thrown in jail for refusing to pay his half of Hilary's upcoming 21st birthday (older sister Haylie's bash and present cost $25,000). "I know he's a millionaire, and he's got the funds," said Hilary's mom Susan. In her court testimony she added that Hilary was "emotionally upset by the abandonment of her father," and a judge ruled that he had to give her $12,500 for the party.

Combine this with the recent domestic abuse charges amongst "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere's parents, Jessica Simpson's overbearing and pervy father and Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears' notably absent and unhelpful mother and you've got a stockpile of unprofessional stage parents. And where is Billy Ray when Miley Cyrus is sending scantily clad cell phone pictures?
