Everyone loves a good tutu. The proof is in the Instagram comments on Whitney Way Thore’s latest post. The star of My Big Fat Fabulous Life posted a photo of her and Nada Louis, a self-proclaimed body positive, LGBTQ rights defender.
“I just want to be seen as a whole package and I think as fat women we often get too fetishized or too ignored,” Whitney Way Thore said at theCURVYcon on Saturday. So how does she stand out? “I have to remind myself to stay assertive, to claim my space,” the reality star and author admitted on a panel moderated by CeCe Olisa called Do It With the Lights On, featuring Chanté Burkett, Ashley Nell Tipton, and Loey Lane. “Not to back down and fall back to that old pattern before discovered body positivity,” she says, “I have to come out and be Whitney all the time.”
Nia Jax, WWE star and body-positive advocate has added another skill set to her ever-evolving resume: Runway modeling. Nia Jax walks the runway during the Dia&Co fashion show and industry panel at the CURVYcon at Metropolitan Pavilion West on September 8, 2017 in New York City. The 33-year-old professional wrestler (whose real name is Savelina Fanene) walked the runway at theCURVYCon fashion show on Friday — alongside fellow curvy models Liza Golden, Precious Lee, and Marquita Pring — while wearing a navy blue-and-white top with blue jeans and a cranberry-colored hat, and also a black, lace top with a black bra underneath.
